Ice staggered into the center of the maze. There it was—a single, small fountain. It was more stone than water, but it was all she needed. Her head was spinning, and from the way the fountain was moving all over the place, she couldn't walk straight anymore. Ice turned the corner onto a particularly long straightaway just as someone else did. The figure was hooded, and fairly small. It looked like a young girl. She was wearing a long-sleeved tunic that came down just above her knees, and soft boots. She was holding a dagger in one hand. Her skin was incredibly pale, and Ice could see the veins on her legs quite clearly. They were thin, and looked more purple than blue, like the blood had congealed inside them. The slight breeze snuck under Ballari's hood and pushed the edge back. The afternoon sun, at that irritating angle where it managed to blind you no matter which way you faced, caught her right in the eyes.
